Digital Camera Scavenger Hunt

Today's activity was really different from what we have been doing in class. Today's activity was to do a scavenger hunt using a digital camera to take pictures of items on campus. These items include; a white Toyota Echo, a "Caution, Wet Floor" sign, an instructor wearing glasses, a very funny face picture, a flame-tree flower, a motorcycle or bicycle, a copy machine a boonie cat or dog, an umbrella, a Disable Parking spot, an NMC logo, and a student outside of Building A who is NOt smoking. I really enjoyed the activity because it was fun and exciting to see the pictures that each group have gathered. However, during the activity my partner (SOLE) and I were having a hard time looking for a boonie cat or dog on campus but, we eventually found one at the NMC gym area. But overall, I really like today's activity.

Online Processing Software

The four online processing software that our class work on were Buzzword, inetword, thinkfree, and googledocs.com. The online processing software that my group and I worked on was Buzzword. I would rate this online processing software a 4 only because as we try to log in, the system was really slow and plus we were not too familiar with this online processing software as well. It was just too slow! I would not recommend this online processing software for teachers to use. I would recommend using googledocs. com.

Mnemograph

Mnemograph.com is great to use when doing timeline. As a future teacher, I would integrate this with all content area (S.S. Science,Math, L.A.). I would assign students to do some research in whatever content area that I assign and then have them use mnemograph to do their timeline to in-put what important events that occurred in history and present their work.

My Blog

The blog that I have just created is somewhat similar to MYSPACE. However, the only differences between the two is that my blog is used for educational purposes in which I use to inform the instructor, my fellow classmates and other viewers about what I have done so far in my courses in school. I would use blog with my future students to create a portfolio of themselves to keep track of all the work in the classroom. For example, journals, projects and other assignments that my students have done throughout the school year that they may want to share with others. In addition, I would use the blog as a progress report during Report Card Day to share with my students parents.

Web Flow Chart

The name of the software that my group and I were working on was mindmeister. As my group and I were working on the software, we found the software at first complicated because we were not familiar with it. However, as we continue to click on every tab, the more we got into the software. From scale 1 to 10, I would rate this software an 8 only because I have never heard or used it before and it would be better if the software had more icons related to education as well. As a future teacher I would integrate this software with social studies with my students to create their own map of their neighborhood or their room and even story maps as well.

Welcome to my blog!

How do you do, my name is sharon and I am taking Ed 480 (Ed Tech Class for Fall 2008) in order to do my student teaching next semester. We are now in the second week of this semester and our class is on a roll. Our instructor, Mr. Jenkins, have thought us how to create our own blog, work on using and creating mind-mapping (mindmesiter, mind42, and gliffy .com), and also learned some tech terms such as Properiety Software and Open Source Software. I hope that by the end of this semester I pass the class off course! But then again, I hope to learn a lot more about educational technology so that I can apply everything I have learned in this class into my future classroom and students as well.
